Importing DVD through camera
by Kyle Manns on Sep 3, 2008 at 12:51:38 am

Let me first explain my situation. My old company had a Sony Z1U, which we would run the output of a dvd player though and record it into Final Cut, when a client would want something re-edited and they only had it on dvd. I recently bought myself a Sony V1u, and it does not have that capability. I have a friend who needs something re-edited (and only has a DVD of it). I've tried Mac The Ripper and Handbrake, but with no luck. Handbrake was the closest, as it would convert the DVD to an MPEG4 or AVI, but my problem was that there was no sound in the AVI, and Final Cut wouldn't import the sound with the MPEG4, let alone even import the MPEG4.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can import something from a DVD into Final Cut Pro since I can't run it through my V1U? Freeware, shareware, or legit programs? I'm to the point where I need something, yesterday...

Thanks!
