You want a pure black background?

Create a black matte in Final Cut (or import a black TIFF file) and put it on the layer beneath your video.

Then apply a luma key to the video and key out the darker parts of the video

Don't try to get a perfect key around the edges of the person, you'll never get it and you'll start to lose parts of their clothing before you do. Just try and push it as far as you can without losing any of the subject.

It should remove a lot of your background and you'll just see the black matte image through the key.

Extra Tip:

Start with a neon green matte instead of black. Get your key right like this, making sure no green shows through the person. Then switch the green for black. This just makes it easier to see what you're doing.
