There's no "treating" necessary.

The deck will simply play it at the correct speed automatically.

ALL Sony DV decks and camcorders (home video models included) will PLAY BACK any DVCAM speed recorded tapes perfectly and automatically (ALL of them) even if they are not "marked" DVCAM.

Even Panasonic brand camcorders (home video models included) will PLAY BACK any DVCAM speed recorded tapes perfectlyand automatically (ALL of them) even if they are not "marked" DVCAM (and they won't be marked that way, for sure.)

JVC and Canon units will NOT play DVCAM speed.
