OK-
Try this
laptop:
Laptops have an video output cycling feature that is usually associated with f3, f4, f5 keys. Look for the symbol that looks like a tv monitor. The others will be lock, moon (sleep), brightness up, down etc...
You hold the "FN" key at the same time as pushing this video button. It will cycle thru "laptop screen" then "S" out ,.then dual clone display then back to laptop only.
Almost all modern laptops with a video output do this. Think -powerpoint presentations being fed to a projector !!!
So with that said...
Connect an "s" cable from laptop to a tv monitor. press FN+ "video out" key until you see a dual clone image on the TV.
Next...
Now take that "S" cable and hook it to the camera.(Or "composite" if cam doesnt have "S")
Put camera in VCR mode. Press record and pause at the same time. Some sony's have a blank key next to the record key to prevent accidental recording.
Refer to owners manual for recording to tape.
At this point you should see the image on the view finder.this verify's image going to tape.
record at your leisure
-The canopus box is great but not needed for this to work.
-If you cant get analog video out of the laptop then the converter wont help.
-Almost all cameras allow analog recording to tape.
put the two together and.Hmmmmm
Its not rocket science just the correct settings
Like I said we do this everyday with all kinds of different setups. We make movies with computer gaming backgrounds and real people in those worlds.
