1. Only if you are using long audio cables for mics or mixers

2. DVCam and MiniDV on the VX/PD are the same format, except the DVcam uses a faster tape speed which reduces a 60min cassette to 40min, DVcam mode is supposed to reduce the possibility of dropouts, After running 600+ tapes through a VX with no dropouts, Ech!

3. With the PD you are paying extra money for the Audio, and extra control over manual functions (which can be a plus depending on the conditions) + the DVcam mode, for run and gun events I prefer the VX, under more controlable conditions I was using a DSR250 which is the bigger brother of the PDs which uses full size cassettes.

I'm glad I didn't sell the 900 I have, I've added anamorphic lenses to it and the VX and mix footage from it and the VX with stuff from a 570 to use with HDV cams.
