You have to take the left, eyepiece side, of the camcorder off by loosening the screws on that side. Very easy to do and goes back together very easy with no springs or switches falling out. There is a small switch on one of the circuit boards that has to be switched to the opposite position from the factory setting. Call the Sony Hotline 800-883-6817 to get specific details on the switch location and they will talk you thru it. The switch is there to reduce operational power and prolong battery power on an electicial section that is not normally needed unless you need to use the 26 pin output.
