did you get the Apple version of the card or go with the non-apple version.

I bought it from the Apple Store online, so I guess that would be the Apple version.

I've heard the new .4 update generally helps performance but I can't go there yet as I need Magic Bullet Looks (the Cosmo tool for wrinkles) on a current project and the new update breaks the link with MB Looks

I believe it broke all plug-ins that send the image to an external interface. This mans both MB Looks and Sapphire Edge are broken. They sort of work, but the "sent" image is upside down. Unrendered performance with these is terrible. Both companies are aware and working on fixes. Other such filters, like the DFT products have never worked correctly in FCP X.
