basic timeline question

To modify an edit of a clip in the timeline -- ripple, slip, or roll, I've got detailed trimming feedback enabled. Before engaging the trim tool while watching the two-up display in the Viewer, I want to watch the entire master clip and visually see where my edit points are particularly in relationship to the clip's handles. What is the most efficient way of doing this?
