Grace,

You can always insert just the video (sans audio) when adding your clips to the storyline by marking your 'i's' and 'o's' and pressing SHIFT+2.

Otherwise, post insertion to storyline, highlight your clip in your storyline; open the inspector (CMD+4); switch to the AUDIO tab along the top and upchuck the box in the "Channel Configuration" section. (or move the slider down in the "Volume and pan" section at the top.

Those are the ones I use.
