[Lawrence Eaton]
"But your thought on the fact that FCPX seems to be copying the media to the events folder has flummoxed me as it seems to occupy twice the size on my drives and I haven't selected the "Copy to Events Folder" option. (I must be doing something wrong here, I'm sure of it but have been to afraid to poke my head above the proverbial trench line.)"
If your sources files aren't .mov, FCPX will convert them to .mov.
Do you have "optimize media" on?
What camera/recording system did your source files come from?
