Printing in Flash is much better (another arrgh! Why they haven't updated printing in Director for so long?), but I'm not sure if it's good enough for your purpose. Nevertheless I managed to print out some crispy graphics via an imported .swf set to print a linked image in much better quality than straight from the Stage, which (a screen dump) is what Director can print. Print-o-matic should be able to offer much better quality than that, but I'm no expert at all on using it. Perhaps you could use Buddy API to send your image straight to your printer too.
