This can't be done in Encore!
However, it's rather a piece of cake in Director. You'd have the main Stage on one screen, controlling a MIAW placed on the other screen (or even several MIAWs on several screens!). The main stage and any MIAWs can have different resolutions, of course. Pretty simple to do, actually.

As for good case stories, personally I'm not in the US even, but maybe you can search Macromedia's Director section.
