Which audio-device have you selected in the Mixer's settings?
If the Mbox is selected, turn it off, or use the onboard sound to see, if that fixes the playback-issue.

Also scopes turned on have quite some impact on playback performance, you might turn them off, too, or set to half-res.

The two systems are identic regarding their hardware, I suppose?
