not sure - the Retina Display mbp has the latest Lion on it - the other older computer had snow leopard ..can't imagine the OS would affect the firewire/thunderbolt connection -- although the more programs i quit on the OLD macbook - the faster the drive worked in the test on that older machine

Testing on the Retina display with nothing else running (by the way i ran the test on the SSD on the new Retina internal drive too) that is CRAZY fast - pinned the needle in write and read -- i think something like 485 mbs....
