Yes the 32 bit thing was just for Premiere since there is a checkbox to use highest bit depth. FCPX is using much more than just 32 bit float as you mentioned and the results are the best I've sen from an NLE. When I cut in Vegas I leave it in 8 bit mode for speed then switch to 32 bit float for color timing and final render - even if it's an 8 bit render such as DVD the results are better with the switch though the render times skyrocket.
