That is all there with the separate projects and the same with functionality you mention in Timeline.
Keep the A and P key in memory. I kinda agreed about the Interface but after working with Shake, Nuke but I know Smoke has this to. I like the static interface but option are good to have right.
From the survey it seems they are not wanting to change FCPX as it is today but more enhanced it and I think we should use this option.
Don't complain about difference FCPX and FCP7 but more give more enhancement.

P.S. what you mean Thumbnails? Premiere was rolling with this for years no complains from that end... ;)
