I certainly understand what you are saying regarding deadlines, but...

What a horrible message this sends to a group of folks that have been their biggest fans. Perhaps they didn't intend to send such a message, but the perception (for most) is pretty rotten. I had honestly hoped they would have had more damage control than this. Third party developers can't wait forever for API's and given the new "App Store" world that we live in, I fear many are going to see this tardiness as simply exclusion and move on.

However great some of the core concepts may be, I fear if no one is left to step up and restore the functionality (as suggested by Apple's FAQ) then this app may die on the vine.
