I know this might not be a help but I would get on the phone with the colorist. Ask them to describe their workflow, what they expect to receive, what they deliver, etc. What does your editor say about all of this? Do you have a post production manager that can explain the deliverables needed? It is strange to me that you wouldn't have all of that information at the start. I hope it all works out.
