[John Heagy] "James Cameron shoots Avatar 3 in 48p
Transformers 5 in "Hyper Reality" 120fps"

Have any of you ever seen "Showscan" content projected in real-life?

Showscan is the trade name for 70mm film projected at 60 frames per second. It looks like video, and I mean VIDEO. It has none of the 'suspension of disbelief' that comes from watching 24fps projection.

I wonder what the reaction will be to the above projects if they make it out of the test theaters.
It's like the thread we had about the new 240 hz tv's that fill in the "missing" frames from 24p content. I saw a Harry Potter film broadcast on ABC on a tv with the 'motion flow' or whatever setting turned on, and it looked like a cheap soap-opera. But there is a large contingent of people out there who like that look. Is my preference for 24p just a product of what I grew up with? Will my 3-year-old think 120 frame per second looks timeless?
