Hello Paul and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

15.6 kbps is pretty darn low, even in mono. Standard stereo mp3 files are 128 kbps.
Stereo 16-bit wave files are about 1550 kbps at 48 kHz, just to give you a comparison.

Do they sound skanky?
