I agree with everything you just said. The G2s work fine most of the time. There are times you'll pick up interference regardless of channel, so it’s best to have a wired back up. The B6s have very good sound as does other alternatives. Thanks for the feedback on the beachtek. I actually called them and asked if that hack would work on Sony cams, which too can have noisy preamps. I was told the tone sent would not and was made specially to disable the AGC of the 5d. Oh well. So your idea for double system sound makes sense and should yield wonderful picture and sound. Better audio than a lot of prosumer camcorders for sure. Great quality stills will be wonderful for docs as well. Let us know when you post something on line. Love to see the results of this set up.
