[Erik Mickelson] "Walter, you are on a PC, enough said."
I'm a long-time Mac guy, and I've still got several Macs in daily use here, but I've started using both platforms side-by-side since there were so many more performance options available on PCs.
[Erik Mickelson] "I would rather have reviews that tell exactly what is better and what is working. Most everyone's response is "it works great", "unbelievable performance upgrade". I personally do not see any of these claims on my MacBook Pro...with a riad...on a single stream of MTS footage."
I tried to outline the non-performance features I like in CS6 above. I think there are a lot of little things there that add up to a much better overall experience.
Decoding footage happens on the CPU exclusively. Do you have the dual-core or quad-core i7?
I can't really comment too much more there as I usually cut from intraframe-compressed sources. I've cut some H.264 material and it's been smooth, but I'm on a 12-core workstation.
