In my experience, 24p itself doesn't do much for you, except creating headaches when trying to mix in other footage that isn't 24P.

You should certainly shoot widescreen however.

24P also doesn't do well with high motion, so hand held and fast moving shots will look more jagged.

Using a lens adapter, or pushing for long lens shots and open iris to reduce the depth of field is the biggest thing you can do to try to recreate a film look in documentary style. And of course, if you can bring in good lighting, you're golden.


This is from my own experience, if you like the look of it, go for it.
