Sorry my friend, but the workflow has changed. It's much like Avid now. It was always very similar to Avid, but yes CS3 and CS4 have a new workflow. You can override the need to highlight all tracks by using the next/previous edit buttons in the controls section on the program monitor that will jump to all edit point regardless of highlighted tracks.
It's a new system, but it's grown on me and in some ways I find it better than the old way.
