I edit on a Sony Vaio laptop, Vista, CS4, 4gbram with no problems.
I also have a bunch of music production software installed and running at the same time. Making sound tracks and effects as the work progresses.
I used to have a mac and that worked fine to.

Sometimes I think that when it comes to computers is just a matter of being lucky/unlucky :)
