Ahah! That is what I was wondering. I was curious if my images were being scaled down anyway and therefore I was not gaining anything by using such large file sizes.

I downsized some of the images in my timeline to 720x480 and to my surprise they seem to look alright in the preview window. I'm going to finish up a small portion and export out the work area to see how the finished product looks.
