Hmmm... I'm not in front of a Premiere machine at the moment...

My traditional workflow from way back before there was anything like a transparent video clip feature was to create a blank title and use that. i'm not sure if they behave differently.

I don't know if applying it to a black clip and luma keying it would create smooth enough edges to have a smooth composite...
