Well, it's not that simple. As I understand it, the chips are progressive and the footage is encoded as interlaced, but the fields are captured at the same moment in time, which means that you can treat it as progresive, and you won't see artifacts, or lose resolution.
Does 30P look better?
It does to me, more fluid, especially on motion. 24P was all the craze for a while, but I think people are starting to see that it just doesn't create that film look after all.
