Premiere Pro EDL Final Cut

OK, I have a project on Premiere Pro CS3, on three PCs, now I have to export that to my only MAC... EDL works fine? and how is the naming problem? where I work we must name every clip this way: REEL#_CLIP#
now we are about Reel 2500 more or less... so any clip name that i create is 2500_01 and thats 7 characters I read on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edit_decision_list that I must make my clip names only 6 characters long... that would be really a problem?
and one more question what would be the best workflow to edit one proy on SD premiere and then make my EDL and take it to HD on FC?
