Make sure your HD clip is set to Scale to Frame Size. Because its HD res inside an SD timeline it is pixel for pixel bigger and looks zoomed in. The Multicam feature is probably automatically doing the Scale to Frame Size although its not switched on in the timeline.
To activate this feature right click the clip in the timeline and select the option "Scale to Frame Size".
