problem with interlacing I think

At the school I work at, we're trying out a video mixer solution for producing live keying for capture. I've run into a problem though.
We have a key-ed video signal coming out of a (PAL) Edirol LVS-400 mixer, into a Canopus ADVC-110, to mix in the audio, then from that box to Premiere Pro CS3 via firewire.
The problem we're having is the captured footage has waving edges around the key-ed subject. The mixer is putting in a background, so it's not an alpha thing as such. My thinking is it's something to do with the interlacing, but the timeline options in PP didn't seem to affect it.
While the best option would be a pre-PC solution, does anyone have any ideas to fix it in post?
