computer just crashed after I stopped a render. now all my changes from the whole day are gone.

I started to render a small portion of a sequence and then tried to hit cancel. Nothing happend and after a few minutes I had to ctrl-alt-del and stop it with the task manager and restart the program. Now all changes that I made through the day are gone from the sequence and all the footage that I captured this morning doesn't show up in the bins that I created, although it's still there in the drive when I go through My Computer. Any ideas?
