dv material to premiere

Hi there,
my customer imported his video material from a dv cam by fire wire to hard disk. When I import these avi files (between 4 and 9 GB size) premiere pro 1.5 only imports about 2 or 3 minutes.
On another workstation with premiere pro 1.5 it
