Boutique Expands & Extends Creative Reach

(San Francisco, Los Angeles--May 4, 2010) DAVID-INC, a creative editorial boutique located in San Francisco and Los Angeles, has welcomed Editor Stephen Berger to the company.

An incredible and versatile talent, Stephen joins DAVID-INC Co-Founders and creative team: Editor Jay Herda and EP Janie Ford. The new addition allows DAVID-INC to introduce Stephen's editorial talent to the San Francisco creative community, while solidifying its presence in the Los Angeles market.

Stephen Berger joins DAVID-INC from Final Cut/Los Angeles. Recent commercial credits for Stephen include spots for Toyota, Sony, Lincoln and Washington Lottery. Other high-profile credits include "Logorama," which just earned the Academy Award for "Best Animated Short"; two Spike Jonze short films "I'm Here" and "We Were Once A Fairytale"; and Patrick Daughters' Grizzly Bear music video "Two Weeks." Inspired by his collaborations with Directors, Stephen edited the award-nominated Sony project for up-and-coming commercial Director Jessica Sanders (who's documentary work has earned her a Sundance Special Jury Prize and an Academy Award nomination); and he just finished working with Director Patrick Daughters on the launch of the new Avalon for Toyota. Stephen edited three of the seven Volvo "Life on Board" campaign films, which earned the Titanium Lion Award at Cannes. He began his career at Spot Welders where he first assisted Eric Zumbrunnen, before beginning to edit on his own. For Stephen, finding the right editorial home in DAVID-INC was as much about his love for his work, as his desire to have balance in his life. "When I met Janie and Jay, I just knew that we all shared an important value," he says. "They are incredibly dedicated to the work and to their clients, but they also strive to have a balance in order to keep the passion for the creative process alive."

For Herda and Ford, inviting Stephen to join their boutique company and their team provides them the opportunity to grow, but thoughtfully and strategically. "Stephen is a great match to our creative collaborations; he brings many important director relationships in Los Angeles that he wants to continue to develop," explains Janie Ford. "His presence there helps us to expand our creative reach in LA. It also enables us to introduce his talent to our existing clients in San Francisco, while attracting new clients as well to DAVID-INC."

Stephen's prolific body of work is a symbiotic complement to that of Editor Jay Herda http://www.david-inc.com/#/editors/jay/ who built his career at national editorial houses Red Car and Mad River Post before launching DAVID-INC with long-time producer Janie Ford in late 2008. Jay has edited multiple Super Bowl campaigns for CareerBuilder.com with Director Bryan Buckley; a Microsoft campaign with Director Chris Wilcha; and continues to enjoy editing projects across the U.S. including campaigns for AirTran Airways with Opos Kenny Herzog. DAVID-INC had a very successful first year in 2009, completing commercial projects for clients such as XBox via T.A.G., as well spots for Audi and Lowe's. "Starting our own company was about simplicity for us," explains Jay. "It allowed us to focus solely on the projects and our clients, and to produce the best creative possible. With the addition of Stephen, we want to continue to evolve in that same direction."

Editor Stephen Berger has already embarked on his first commercial project for DAVID-INC, which will air later this spring. Jay Herda is currently editing a USA.gov television project Directed by Charlie Watson via ad agency Campbell-Ewald/Detroit.
