Thanks Andrew,

Does the timeline have a way to select very particular sections of the timeline so as to figure out what is the total running time of the selected items only?

Here’s an example of what I’m trying to do. Let’s say I have a standard definition NTSC 44 minute drop frame time code show that has three commercial breaks. Each commercial break is just a 10 second place holder of black matt and no sound. So the show is in fact 43;30 minutes in length plus three 10 second sections of black matt. Total show running time is 43;30, while total running time on the timeline is 44;00 minutes.

Is there a way for me to just select program parts on the time line without selecting the 10 second commercial break place holders, inside the timeline, in order to know the total show running time?

I understand I could subtract from the total running time, on the timeline, the lengths of the commercial break place holders. But that may require, at times, a time code calculator and that’s not always available.
