Hi guys
I recently purchased 2 x Small Tree 10g Ethernet cards dual port intended to connect between 2 Macpros direct.
I put 1 card in a 2010 macpro PCIe slot 2 (4xPCIe2) have attached a CAT6 cable between them and put the second Small Tree card in a Cubix 16xPCIe2 chassis expander.
The HIC for the chassis expander is in slot 2 a 16xPCIe2 slot in the second macpro a 2008 model.
Using black magic disk speed test I have measured 700MBs< read and write to a 4 bay raid in a Stardom box controlled by an Arica 1223 raid controller in the 2008 macpro. Using the black magic disk speed test I also measured 440MBs< read and write on a 16 bay raid connected to an Atto R680 on the 2010 macpro.
The problem I am having is that when I transfer data between the 2 raids on the separate machines over the 10G connection between the Small Tree cards. The transfer rate was 88MBs I tried copying across several times and then it seamed to achieve up to 310MBs.
Where as the reason I purchased the Small Tree cards was to get far greater through-puts, was hoping to get around 600MBs+ on a 10G network.
Can you please help me improve the through put between the 2 machines over the 10g Ethernet connection?
Thanks Nir.
