I've been typing up closed captioning manually for a church broadcast for a while. Once I've typed it all, I just pass the txt file on and cc's are added when the station dubs it to their server. I'm interested in trying to start up a free-lance captioning service to take someone's finished program and adding captions before it goes to a station for air.

I'm wondering what equipment I need to get started, hardware and software. What's needed for bare-minimum setup, up to an optimal setup? What kind of price range for a startup? Also, is there a voice-recognition software to help with it. I'm currently playing then typing about 5-10 seconds worth at a time, then rewinding, playing, and typing a little more. Very time-consuming.

I'm trying to replace income from a job that i'm becoming physically unable to continue doing, and if this is something that I can do from my home it would be great. You can email me any comments or suggestions to jdcinama@hotmail.com. Thanks for any help.
