It was my understanding that in the 12-core macpro the highest I can go is the 470 but a friend just sent me this link:
However macvidcards says "The 5xx series cards don't have a working EFI…no boot screens...If you don't need boot screens then you can do this GTX580 mod".
I am currently running the 120/285 combo with a decklink 3D and its hdmi plate taking up the other 2 PCI slots.
I want to make sure I know what the best card to purchase is (without using a cubix) before buying on ebay - I am also willing to upgrade to Lion if need be. I would most likely just keep the gt120 as its working fine for now but If anyone has suggestions for something to swap out for while i am upgrading my 285 to a 470 or whatever then please advise!
