Don't get me wrong, I liked the Hurt Locker a lot, after nerdishly ranking my favorite movies of last year it was #12, but I didn't see it as much more than an action movie with great dialog. I think it deserved every award it earned except for Best Picture. I think it had great directing, writing, editing, and the other technical aspects it won for. But was it the best movie of last year? Not really. I think Up in the Air got shafted the most. I was kind of hoping it would win for its adapted screenplay at the very least (I mean I thought it was probably the Best Picture of last year)... Is Precious really a better screenplay than Up in the Air...? I thought Precious was kinda corny and over-melodramatic in my opinion.
