Making PDW-700 image sharper in the post production

Hi,
I did a two camera shoot with my brand new PDW-700 with "BBC" settings loaded in.
As many of you may know, the BBC recommendations are that DETAIL setting should be off.
I found the picture be a little too soft for my taste and later changed the setting to ON and level somewhere around -50 to -30.
Now I need to try to match the first days' material into what we filmed later.
I have Final Cut Studio (including Color software), Magic Bullet and other software for adjusting the picture. Is there a smart and good looking way to make the image a little sharper?
I tried the standard FCP "Sharpening" effect and while it did make the picture sharper, it also generated too much noise for my taste.
Any ideas?
