10bit/8bit QT gamma shift
by Jon Mercer on Oct 19, 2009 at 3:31:27 pm

Currently in transition from Shake to Nuke and I'm having an issue with a gamma shift in my renders. To try and isolate the problem I've removed all nodes from my script and am just doing a simple read/write. Here is what I'm working with:

read: 10 bit uncompressed 1080 QT loaded from a Kona 3, color space set to rec709
write: 10 bit uncompressed QT, color space also set to rec709

Gamma shift is subtle but is making the footage darker. Problem also occurs when going from 8bit > 8bit, 10bit>8bit, 10bit>16bit tiff, 10bit>proresHQ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Nuke 5.2v1 on a mac at 10.5.7, QT 7.6.2 and monitoring everything through a Kona 3 and in FCP 6.0.6.

Thanks,
Jon
