Dead Chyron
by Tyler Ries on Apr 14, 2009 at 4:00:22 am

I don't know if this is specifically a Chyron problem, or a Windows issue, but it seems to only happen on our Chyron computers. We have two studios and a Duet for each (an LE and an LEX) and they remain on most of the time. There is a common problem between the two of them. If either of the computers is shutdown, upon reboot, a system error message will appear (during the DOS start up) and say that the computer is unable to boot due to a missing system registry file.

The solution to this problem has been a complete reinstall of Windows and Lyric, and we have taken to keeping a spare hard drive with a new image ready to go. Each time that the units have been sent back to Chyron, they say it is due to a bad hard drive and replace it, still no fix.

I was just wondering if anyone has run into the same issue, and I am sorry if this might be more of a Windows issue and it is just coincidence that it occurs only on our Chyron computers. Thanks!
