Lyric scripting question

Using Lyric 5.25 on a Duet LEx

Does anyone know how a script can retrieve the current message number when you have a data message pulled up? ActiveCanvas.CurrentMessage and ActiveCanvas.Scene.Message do not work. They just give me the message number of the base template, I need to retrieve the message number of the actual data message.
