Hi there,
The most used software for realtime graphics in London is VizRT, I can say this with some authority as I have been working in the Broadcast industry, in realtime 3D for the last 11 years. Viz is used by BBC Sports, BBC News, ITV, Channel 4, GMTV, Kiss, Q, Kerrang, The BOX etc, QVC, Sky Sports, Sky News and lots of broadcast providers like Alston Elliot, Wurmsers, Mammoth Graphics, The London Stock exchange, I could go on. Chyron is used by Sky Sports News and other smaller channels but mainly where budgets are tighter.
You can't go too far wrong by learning how to use Viz, or any other software if possible, it is not a quick or small learning curve though, there are many applications you need to get your head around with Viz and also to get the best from it, as with other software, you need to learn how to script, even designers would be advised to learn some code if possible.
Just go onto Chyron's website and look at the client list of who uses in London and do the same on the Viz site..

Hope this helps you a little and good luck whatever you choose to learn.

Neil
