MXF implementation
by

have been looking all over the web for MXF implementation in NLEs and server based prodcuts as this seems to be an important future for Video content and metadata.
In particular interested in the implementation of MXF in P2 cards so that metadata flow can be automated in some sort of CMS like Final Cut Server
Has anyone been using the MXF files and more importantly their metadata in Final Cut Server? Are they only using the basic username fields MXF4QT brings across and the essence content?
the 2 products I have seen which integrate MXF with final cut pro or final cut server seem to be P2log and MXF4QT
P2log would help in moving some of the metadata from the p2 card and getting into QT codec and XML file for import into an FCP project
Can FCP server read FCP XML files as if they were projects?
Would all machines in a facility need MXF4QT to be able to read the MXF native files or would moving the assets through FCP server automation to proper QT files in native codecs like DVCPRO hd work better (would it recompress rather than unwrap as desired)?
basically looking forward to when apple implements MXF but not sure if they will as it cuts into quicktime architecture stranglehold and plans for codecs like prores 422
sorry for the long post, if anyone has any thoughts please share
thanks
ben
