I believe your problem is due to switching from a PPC machine to an Intel machine. These machine architectures have a different "endianess". I doubt that Postgres has it's internal files written in an endian independent manner.
Your best best is to do a backup of the database (using the FCSVR system preferences pane) on the G5, then install FCVSR fresh on an Intel machine and then restore the database from the backup.
This should work as the backup is stored in a machine independent manner.
