FCP 5 crashes everytime try log and capture with HDV

hey

This may be a simple answer of my laptop can't handle the power but that would be bad so I ask - how come when I try to digitize with my HDV 1080i 60 with all the presets geared to this does final cut pro crash? I have a powerbook G4 / FCP5 - anyway everytime I press log and capture the program crashes - can it not handle HDV? I have to have my interview digitized in the next hour - can anyone help me?
