Hello Juan -
If your primary focus is to build - and automate - content processes (what some people call “workflow management”), then you may want to look at Vantage; this is what it is designed for.
If your primary focus is to find a searchable UI for a content database (what some people think of as “asset management”), then Vantage on its own will likely not give you what you want; this is not what it was built for. Vantage also does not specifically allow multiple users to edit the same FCP project. However, one of Vantage’s primary goals is interoperability with most of the major video systems on the market; it can sit side-by-side with other systems and do the heavy lifting of workflow automation.
As mentioned in one reply, Vantage does incorporate FlipFactory transcoding. However, it also incorporates analysis/QC; it can track complex asset types; it can manage binders of assets and metadata through a workflow; it can integrate with 3rd-party systems.
Further, Vantage gives you a great deal of workflow design flexibility – you are not constrained to compression workflows, nor are you stuck with a linear, pre-determined workflow. Workflow design is nodal and allows automated decision-making, process branching and syncronization, as well as metadata modeling independent of the underlying file formats. In other words – transcoding and compression is one capability within Vantage, but not all workflows require transcoding and Vantage has a lot of other capabilities that come into play in non-transcoding workflows.
I’d encourage you to try Vantage to explore its capabilities. We have a downloadable version of Vantage on our website, and we’re happy to give you a trial license. Also, the sales brochure on our website includes pricing information... it’s fairly straightforward.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
John Pallett
