Particular - light streaks effect and motion captured path

I am having problems using Particular. (Based on http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/light_streaks/)

I am using a motion captured path linked to a null to emit the laght streaks. However, the light-streak is not displaying correctly. Instread of beeing one smooth line (following the position of the motion tracker) I clearly see the particle shape..

Sorry for my bad explanation, but I really dunno how to else describe it. I have tried differen emitter/particle settings.

The only way to get the line"smooth" is if I delete the tracker path and set manual keyframes with longer distance between them. However, I need to use motion tracking. If i use "rove across time" the line is also smooth, but the drawing of it is ...you guessed it: not on time...

Any help is so much appreciated.
