Disk error after using NTFS drive on Bootcamp
by gregory wilson on Aug 26, 2009 at 5:42:33 pm

hi,

I've been using bootcamp for sometime now with no issues. I installed Windows in a 32gig partition on my MBP and then installed VMware Fusion. I use Fusion only if I need to operate programs in parallel with my Mac, but if I am doing anything involved I use Bootcamp.

I have been using a PC based program in bootcamp but I'm doing all my finishing on the Mac side. I've been going back and forth with my bus powered Lacie 500gig drive, yes I have MacDrive. This system had been running fine for the last few weeks but yesterday when I powered down from the Bootcamp side and restarted in OSX I received a disc error. It said this volume will operate with limited fuctionality, please back-up your data and reformat.

I ejected the drive, plugged it back in and the disc will not mount, disc utility sees the drive but won't let me mount it.

WTF?

Can anyone help me sort out the reason for this? I can't risk this happening again.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

greg
